Realization

Sun Sep 23, 2007, 1:13 PM
  • Mood: Adoration
  • Listening to: the annoying AC sounds of a computer lab
  • Reading: what I write
  • Watching: the cursor glide across the screen
I had an interesting realization today. While I have always realized that /I/ am not normal, I never realized how abnormal the relationships I have with others are.

I taught my mother how to use an instant messenger so she could talk to me without using cell minutes or making it harder for me to do homework at the same time. Sure, that is all fine and dandy, but it has led to her frequent use of things I usually only hear from teenagers and those of similar computing usage. Constant "ROFL" and "LMAO" or "OMG" has cracked me up on a number of occasions.

Combine this with the fact that my mom and I are a little more like best friends than mother and daughter, from our sheer closeness, and you get some pretty interesting exchanges. We both have the same silly sense of humor and quirky creative strike within us. Below is an example, with screennames removed, of one of our recent 'banters'. The posts with ** before them are mom's for those of you who can't figure it out, :P

3:14:13 PM: so I had to take my Biology test covering 3 chapters plus extra materials on Friday....
3:14:23 PM: after only forty min of studying
3:14:32 PM:**oh dear
3:14:32 PM: thanks to that presentation
3:14:48 PM: and we went into the function of the thylakoid
3:15:01 PM: production/consumption of ATP/ADP
3:15:02 PM:**the who???
3:15:09 PM: what the purpose of the golgi is
3:15:29 PM: stem cells, the different types, their purposes, and how they are harvested
3:15:39 PM: anaerobic fermentation
3:15:44 PM:**now missie-u better quit all that dang cussing
3:15:48 PM: anabolic and catabolic reactions
3:15:49 PM: lol
3:15:57 PM:**I'll have none of that
3:16:07 PM: I love you mom
3:16:30 PM:**yea, then quit yuor cussing young lady
3:16:43 PM:**ya hear
3:17:27 PM:**well do ya??
3:17:38 PM: I hear
3:17:44 PM: and that was far from cussing!
3:17:48 PM: I could have spelled it out...
3:18:08 PM: Adenosine TriPhosphate and Adenosine DiPhosphate!
3:18:14 PM: there....that's right, I said it!
3:18:33 PM:**you sassy little......

I wish that all had such a close, fun, and loving relationship with their mom. It's moments like these that I can look back and see what a rich influence she has had on my mind, heart, and soul.

Hey. I had someone add my lioness drawing to a collection of big cat drawing and photos... that's so cool that they thought my work was that good.

Thank you very much. I intend to add a bit more soon, but the computer that our lab's scanner is hooked up to has a "minor" harddisk error. (aka it likely needs to be replaced, lol)
